In March and April, a select group of residents took part in a review of the new tram car in which they evaluated the tram design in terms of overall usability. The group had at its disposal a preliminary wood mock-up or full-scale model of a tram car. The review aimed to ensure that the new Tampere tramway would provide an unbeatable travel experience when it comes to convenience and passenger comfort.<\/p>\n<p>The residents also used the mock-up to assess different factors that affect travel comfort, including placement of seats, handrails and door buttons. This hands-on testing guarantees that the tram will be 100% passenger-friendly.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vce-single-image-container vce-single-image--align-center\">\n<div class=\"vce vce-single-image-wrapper\" id=\"el-62b530b4\" data-vce-do-apply=\"all el-62b530b4\">\n<figure>\n<div class=\"vce-single-image-inner\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"vce-single-image\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"365\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Tampereen-Ratikka-Makettimatka-kollaasi-1024x365.jpg\" data-img-src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Tampereen-Ratikka-Makettimatka-kollaasi-1024x365.jpg\" alt=\"Tampereen Ratikan ensimm\u00e4inen maketti\" title=\"Tampereen-Ratikka-Makettimatka-kollaasi\"\/><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vce-text-block\">\n<div class=\"vce-text-block-wrapper vce\" id=\"el-cc980c64\" data-vce-do-apply=\"all el-cc980c64\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The mock-up is a full-scale wood model of the Tampere tram.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vce-text-block\">\n<div class=\"vce-text-block-wrapper vce\" id=\"el-ae8e6ca5\" data-vce-do-apply=\"all el-ae8e6ca5\">\n<p>In total, six groups assessed the tram\u2019s usability and accessibility \u2013 especially from the stand point of tram passengers traveling with prams and bicycles. The review groups were assembled from different organizations and associations in the Tampere region.<\/p>\n<p>This year, Tampere Tramway Ltd. also arranged a mock-up journey to the tram manufacturer\u2019s production site in Oulu.
