We take care of the wellbeing and know-how of our own personnel at Tampere Tramway Ltd. We ensure safe working conditions for Tramway makers. We also have an indirect responsibility for the wellbeing of people working for our subcontractors. Together with our service providers we make sure that the Tampere Tramway is reliable, comfortable, and easy to use, and that everyday life is safe and smooth for people affected by the tramway.

Safety guides all our actions

Our company has implemented a safety policy that outlines our safety objectives. This safety policy guides all our actions. The most important goal of our safety operations is to ensure that

  • the tramway system can be implemented and taken into use without serious work accidents or third-party incidents
  • safety of tramway operation is taken into consideration in the planning and implementation of the tramway system
  • Commercial operation of the Tampere Tramway can be started safely, and Tramway operation is safe in all conditions
  • everyone feels safe working at our common workplace. Our company is part of the Vision Zero Forum network and aspires to achieve its highest safety level classification every year.

To the personnel of our company

  • Our company’s ESG Programme for 2022-2025 was created together with our personnel
  • We monitor the wellbeing of our personnel with the KivaQ wellbeing at work survey designed for the subsidiaries of Tampere City Group. Our KivaQ index is 8.55 on a scale of 1–10.
  • We have a dialogue meeting four times a year with all personnel to discuss themes related to wellbeing at work.
  • We develop our personnel’s knowhow. Our teams have annual educational budgets, and we invest in the development of supervisor work with common and personal trainings.

To the Tramway Family and our subcontractors

  • We monitor work safety at our common place of work
  • We follow our service providers’ wellbeing at work
  • We make sure that our internal communication is effective and that all parties have appropriate channels for communicating about common matters
  • We conduct an annual survey to our internal stakeholders to follow up their satisfaction in our collaboration, and take necessary action based on the results

To residents, passengers and communities

  • As Project Owner, we have a responsibility to consider the long-term effects of all our operations to people’s living environment and everyday life
  • We make sure that the Tampere Tramway is planned, implemented and operated in dialogue with our stakeholders
  • We conduct an annual consumer survey to monitor
  • the public opinion of residents on the Tampere Tramway According to the survey (2024)
    • 89 per cent of Tampere residents view the Tramway positively
    • 66 per cent of Pirkkala residents view the Tramway positively
  • We collect monthly feedback on customer satisfaction among passengers of the Tramway
    • The average customer satisfaction rate is 4.57 on a scale of 1–5
