Good financial governance with life cycle sustainability in mind
In Tampere Tramway Ltd, we practice good financial governance, use resources efficiently and create steady, long-term financial benefits to our stakeholders. Life cycle sustainability is our top priority in making acquisitions and procurements and maintaining the tramway system. Responsibility in governance shows for example in our company’s principles of governance, risk management and internal instructions. As Project Owner, we have a responsibility to make sure that our projects are implemented sustainably, on time and within budget.

Risk management and self-supervision
We practice risk management in all our company’s operations. Risk management includes our company’s business risks, project risks, sustainability and responsibility risks, and risks related to the operability and safety of the tramway system.
The goal of our company’s risk management and self-supervision activities is to ensure that we achieve our strategic, operational and financial goals, and to support our company in the management of its operations and in its operating activities.
Our risk management policy, which is ratified by our board of directors, is based on the SFS-ISO 31000 standard, the Tampere City Group guidelines, and the safety management system of our company.
Our Supplier Code of Conduct
Tampere Tramway Ltd’s Supplier Code of Conduct is based on international conventions and regulations, national laws and good industry practice. The document sets the ethical, social and environmental requirements for the suppliers and service providers of our company. We send it to all suppliers, either in conjunction with the call for tender or as an appendix to a procurement agreement between the company and the supplier.

Expansion over the city borders in a responsible way
The Tampere Tramway route is being extended towards Linnainmaa and Pirkkala. In addition, drafting of a project plan for the Lielahti-Ylöjärvi tramway section began in autumn 2025, and a general plan for the Vuores tramway section will be drafted during 2025.
The Pirkkala–Linnainmaa Alliance for Tampere Tramway

The Pirkkala–Linnainmaa Alliance for Tampere Tramway is a responsible tramway project. The project’s functions and operations are guided by the responsibility goals of our company, Tampere City and Pirkkala Municipality. Responsible and sustainable construction is one of the Alliance’s key result areas.
The project develops our common urban space for present and future residents according to the principles of sustainable development. Environmentally, socially and economically responsible policies have been defined for the project.
Smart urban transportation solutions and innovations
We create opportunities for groundbreaking tramway development activities and businesses by offering a hands-on testing platform – the Lyyli Living Lab. We encourage our own employees and service providers to come up with new approaches and innovative ideas.
